Originally from the Bogside in Derry, Hermann’s family have a small farm in Donegal since he was a young. After attending St Columb’s College in Derry, he studied marine biology in Edinburgh before studying theology as a lay student at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth. 

First a secondary school teacher he then became a journalist, writing for various national newspapers including the Irish Mail on Sunday and Irish Examiner. 

He was formerly director of communications for the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy Group in the European Parliament, and his since come to work with The European Conservatives and Reformists Group. 

He is a founding member of The Irish Freedom Party and its current president.

Current sitting MEPs voted for the Nature Restoration Law, and Energy Performance in Building Directive and Carbon Tax. These measures will make your food, petrol, heating oil and house maintenance more expensive and your life more difficult. 

The Irish Freedom Party will work to protect rural and coastal Ireland. We will oppose pollution but reject the ideology of Climate Alarmism. We will protect Irish Farming and Fishing. We want the cake, not the crumbs. 

EU Open Borders and uncontrolled immigration increases housing demand making it difficult to buy a home or rent a flat. It also leads to an increase in crime and anti-social behaviour. 

We believe Irish people should have the right to control our own money, our laws and our borders. We need to encourage our young people to stay in Ireland and create opportunities for our talented diaspora to come home.
